How does Walnut Tree Farm minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?
To reduce the draw on natural resources, the farmhouse and tree house are entirely solar powered and water is also heated by solar. The walls are made of adobe, which is well insulating thus providing natural air conditioning in the summer and warmth in the winter. Water comes from a natural spring and is gravity fed. All appliances are A rated. The owners recycle extensively and try to grow as much food as possible on the property organically. As the natural spring provides only so much water per day, water usage is monitored and not used unnecessarily. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. All vegetables are grown on the farm. Walnut Tree Farm is found in a quiet valley of the picturesque Algarve.
