Why we've chosen Treganhoe Farm

If you leave Treganhoe Farm in the Cornwall AONB, there is a treat in almost every direction: the beach just a 10 minute drive east, famous Land’s End 20 minutes west, and "The Drift" reservoir, a lovely bird reserve and fly fishery, almost directly next door. But why would you leave? The farm has been in the James family for three generations, and is now run as a dairy farm milking 170 pedigree Holstein Friesian Cows with also sheep and pigs. Stunning views can be enjoyed from here of the reservoir and of Madron Carn, a wild and rocky characteristic of the rugged Cornish landscape.

There will be a lot of introductions on the farm with all the animals to meet, which often happens on the farm tour as well as the quick breaking of the ice then with the kids of other tents. The countryside beyond the farm is dramatic and the options varied. Fly fishing for trout and Arctic Char at Drift Reservoir is a 10-minute walk to the south of the reservoir. For outstanding bird-watching, a 15-minute walk north-west from Treganhoe is a hide maintained by Cornwall’s preservation society. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars-one size fits all!

Everything here is a short distance away. Up the coast 10 minutes is Penzance’s Eastern Green Beach, a very safe and secure sandy beach, sheltered and gently sloping. Lamorna Cove, 15 minutes south, is another good option for swimming. And the north coast beaches, 20 minutes away, are usually calm if the south’s beaches are less so.

Greentraveller's Insight: The Featherdown Farm Tent
The tents are large enough to fit six people – a maximum of five adults and one child up to 12 years old. Cooking & heating is provided by a cosy wood-burning stove, plus you'll get one crate of firewood provided per day. There is an ample living area (45 square metres), which includes a flushing toilet and spacious, comfortable beds. Each tent includes bed and kitchen linen, the tent’s kitchen has cold running water and there are hot showers on site.

One of the prettiest fishing villages in Cornwall, Mousehole, is just 15-minutes away, while to the south, 20 minutes, is the amazing open-air Minack Theatre. To the north instead, 10 minutes, is the beautiful National Trust Trengwainton Garden. All in all, everything is here at Treganhoe and nearby for a stunning family glamping Cornwall farm holiday!
