Tír na Fiúise, meaning the land of fuschia, was set up in 1999 by the Heenan family on their farm near Terryglass village in rural Tipperary. For many generations the family has lived and worked the land.

With several years of experience operating an award-winning farmhouse B&B, they aim to offer a homely base to visitors seeking an authentic rural experience; different from what is found in traditional tourist areas.

Just 2 hours from Dublin and located in the heart of Ireland, Niall & Inez Heenan have converted the barns just down the lane from their farmhouse to self-catering accommodation available by the week.

Tír na Fiúise now boasts five fully equipped self-catering cottages, carefully constructed in a fresh, clean traditional style but each with their own unique personality.

There is a sauna for guests to use as well as a children's play area with basketball hoop, tennis racquets and sand area. Bicycles are provided free of charge.

Why not dabble in a bit of farming, saunter through the adjacent bog or explore exquisite Tipperary countryside by foot or bike. The area has some fantastic delicious restaurants and pubs in Terryglass village and the nearby Lough Derg area offers fishing, walking, cycling and much more.

A journalist once asked Niall, “Why do people come to Terryglass? There is nothing here.” Niall’s answer was that it is for people who are in search of nothing. For them, the place is enough. Walk the bog at sunrise, and you will understand what he means.
