Why we've chosen Secret Meadows Glamping, Suffolk, England

Secret Meadows provides luxury camping at its best with boutique style accommodation set at a beautiful wildlife site in Suffolk. There is a variety of accommodation for you to choose from including Luxury Lodge Tents, Gypsy Caravan with Shepherd's Hut ('Gypsy's Rest') and the Hobbit Box (converted wooden horsebox truck with a Middle Earth theme).

Ideal for family holidays or romantic breaks for couples, Secret Meadows luxury camping provides stylish, off-grid creature comforts combined with the magic of staying close to Nature. Secret Meadows has been described in the press as “taking glamping to new heights!” and has been featured in the Saturday Telegraph’s ‘Four of the Best’ and the Independent’s ’50 Best Nights Under Canvas’.

Situated at White House Farm Wildlife Site, in rural Suffolk, there are 115-acres of meadows and woodland, unchanged for generations. At night, you can enjoy the delights of a camp fire, admire the beautiful displays of stars on clear evenings and by day experience a slow pace of life in inspiring surroundings. All the accommodation units have a private loo, basin and hot shower, as well as traditional kitchen facilities with Belfast sink and hot and cold running water. Luxury Lodge Tents are set in wooded glades overlooking one of many pretty meadows. These tents are beautifully furnished (including a hand crafted 4-poster bed) for a country-inspired home away from home while the quirky Gypsy's Rest (gypsy caravan with shepherd's hut), and Hobbit Box, provide their own special charms with wooded surrounds, meadow views and the highest glamping standards.

For days out, Secret Meadows is close to the beautiful market towns of Woodbridge and Framlingham, and within easy reach of the Suffolk coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Secret Meadows offers a range of on-site activities, tempting 'Specials' to choose from such as breakfast hampers, barbeque packages, and bushcraft workshops, and a farm pantry full of wholesome food as well as plenty of treats.

Eco credentials:
How do you reduce your draw on energy: The accommodation units are off-grid (or there is minimal electric socket use in 2 units). For lighting we use vegetable based lamp oils, natural wax candles where possible, and heating is fuelled by local and sustainably sourced wood, and locally sourced recycled sawdust heat log kindling.
How you minimise the amount of waste you send to landfill: We provide the following recycling facilities at our parking area: mixed glass, plastic containers, paper, card, aluminium and cool wood ash from the wood burning stoves. We provide guests with locally made natural soaps as well as natural washing up liquid and soaps with dispensers which we re-fill.
How you reduce your consumption of water: We have water saver flush on the cisterns, flow restrictor showerheads. We use environmentally friendly cleaning products.
How much of the food your serve is sourced locally (where possible): We have an onsite honesty shop which is stocked by our local farm shop, so their focus is on seasonal and many locally sourced items, which include vegetarian options, and we sell some essential item ourselves, including recycled kitchen roll and tissues, recycled allumimium foil etc. Hire packages include breakfast and barbeque hampers which are managed by the local farm shop, and there are vegetarian options for both.
Do you actively encourage guests to arrive on foot, by bike and by public transport?: Yes we have a traffic policy which addresses this, and we send detailed directions to all guests which includes information about public transport options, including directly to the site by bus and foot, as well as by train and taxi or electric bicycle/bicycle which can be hired near the train station.
Additional information: We have a reed bed (which works alongside a treatment plant) for sewage treatment. All profits from Secret Meadows goes to the nature conservation charity which owns the wildlife site where Secret Meadows glamping is based.
