Why we've chosen Secret Cloud House Holidays:

If you are searching for a peaceful, relaxing break in beautiful countryside with an endless array of exhilarating activities on your doorstep - then look no further. Discover a quiet and stunning retreat from reality where every day life can be escaped. Slow down and create unforgettable memories with loved ones, family and friends in these luxurious yurts in a pastoral idyll. It is up to you whether your days here are long and lazy or packed full of adventures and exploration in the surrounding area. In the evening, watch the countryside wind down by the flicker of candlelight or soak those aching muscles in the wood fired hot tub. There are just three yurts and a bell tent in this location, creating a unique feeling of space and tranquillity, to enjoy with friends, family or on a romantic break. Each yurt is designed to be as cosy as possible and has its own private hot tub: close to nature with every aspect carefully considered to ensure any impact on the surrounding environment is kept to a minimum. Secret Cloud House Holidays were honoured to receive the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark within 2 weeks of opening during the first season in 2011.

The yurts: Foxglove, Blackberry, Rosehip and Elderflower and Bilberry Lodge (a Scandinavian inspired quirky, wooden cabin) have been thoughtfully decorated with subtle hints of the hedgerow colours and embellished with little touches of luxury - Egyptian cotton bedding, gorgeously snug featherdown duvets and pillows, fluffy towels, toiletries handmade with love in Derbyshire, Staffordshire wool blankets to keep you snug and a hamper of delicious local food on arrival to create the perfect Staffordshire breakfast. The belief that energy is precious informs the construction of the yurt areas and ensures as little energy is used as possible; wood burning stoves keep everything warm and toasty as the sun goes down and double as a stove where delicious slow cooked meals can be created. Romantic candles and discreet solar light create a calming ambience within the yurt, water in the washroom is heated by the sun as far as possible and a wood fired hot tub offers complete relaxation. Secret Cloud House Holidays is perfectly placed on the edge of the Peak District National Park which is overflowing with things to do. Derby, Sheffield, Nottingham and Manchester are all within an hours drive and there are great walks from the door.

Review by Lucy Symons "What could be nicer than sitting in a wood burning hot tub with a glass of wine under the stars after a hearty day walking or cycling through the Peak District?"
