Rosehill offers luxurious accommodation in a beautiful location, right on the Cornish Coast. Set within a sheltered woodland valley in the small coastal village of Porthtowan, our exclusive location is fantastic.
A short five minutes’ walk gets you to our local beach, village shops, bars and restaurant – park up, relax, and leave your car behind. Our beach is sandy and has been awarded Blue Flag status for exceptional quality and cleanliness. Recommended by the Marine Conservation Society, it is a great surfing sport for the more adventurous and plenty of rock pools for the little ones. After a terrific day on the beach enjoy the convenience of an outside drench shower on each lodge to wash away the sand and salt. To re-assure our guests of the ultimate standard of quality and service for your holiday each lodge has been independently assessed by VisitBritain.
For the past three years in a row, Rosehill has achieved the top Five Stars along with the very coveted Gold Award status. We believe that luxury self catering accommodation can go hand in hand with a responsible approach and commitment to green sustainability. Each bespoke lodge has been hand built by skilled Cornish craftsmen here within our small village. Materials used in the construction are from sustainable sources. An amazing Cornish Larch clad the lodges, bamboo floors throughout, mosaic tiles and lots more.
Rosehill has been assessed twice by the Green Tourism Business Scheme, once in 2008 and again in 2010 and both times was awarded Gold status. In 2009 Rosehill was awarded Gold for sustainability at the Cornwall Tourism Awards. Re-claimed and re-cycled materials are used throughout. The bridges that span the small babbling brook running through the site are reclaimed railway sleepers from the London underground. Wildlife protection and conservation initiatives ensure that your environment at Rosehill is really, really special.
Explore the great walks along the coast path with the dramatic Atlantic coastline, right on your doorstep. Look forward to storm-watching during the winter months feeling the sea-spray on your face. At the end of the day relax in your own personal hot tub, dine al-fresco and star gaze from the shelter of your glass covered decking. Be entranced by the incredible birdsong that surrounds your lodge. Finally, snuggle up in the comfy super-king size beds or watch the flames dancing lazily around in your log burner.
How does Rosehill Lodges minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?
Rosehill Lodges has taken a wide range of green initiatives to minimise their impact on the environment, earning them Gold status from the GTBS. To reduce its draw on energy, the lodges are fully insulated with paper in the walls and lava rock in the floors. Plus, glass roofs provide high insulant levels. Log burners are used for bio mass space heating, which used are sourced from sustainable woodland in Cornwall. Water saving eco-click basin taps have been fitted throughout. All energy and water consumption is monitored and recorded.
The owners take all practical measures to reduce waste to landfill by adopting an ‘eliminate, reduce, re-use, recycle’ approach to waste management. Other items are purchased from sustainable resources or from recycled products where possible, for example the tiles in bathrooms are recycled glass mosaics. The use locally sourced and organic produce as much as possible and support local businesses and supplies whenever possible. To reduce the impact on the environment, the owners actively encourage guests to arrival by public transport, by cycle or on foot.
