Rose Cottage is peaceful; surrounded by the hills with only the sound of the river at the bottom of the garden, the wildlife and the sheep. Pour a drink and watch the birds, play the games and quizzes with the children or go for a ramble with the dog. Watch the stars- the nights are truly dark- light the fire, watch one of the DVDs/ TV, or just read one of the many books-the choices are endless!

Once rested there is so much to do and to see here. Wildlife, good birdwatching , tourist attractions from historic sights and gardens to mine exploring, rock climbing and quad biking. Good, very local, pub food, coffee/ teashops, all reasonably priced, means cooking is optional!

Rose Cottage is located on the Welsh border in a very quiet, beautiful, unspoilt and largely undiscovered valley. 2 miles from the Heart of Wales railway line with excellent road links to Ludlow, Hereford, Shrewsbury and the midlands. Because of its central position it is also within easy reach of North and South Wales and the coast. Despite the quiet location there are many places to visit and sights to see just within the immediate area. The cottage holds a comprehensive guide of things to see and do as well as suggestions for days out.

Why is this a greener holiday?

To truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: the nearest train station is Knucklas. The owners are happy to collect guests from the station. Alternatively there are some buses available, or a pre-booked taxi is available from Knighton, which is 4 miles from Rose Cottage on the B4355. Onsite the owners have taken a number of green measures to reduce the environmental impact of their tourism business and contribute positively to their surroundings, earning Gold from the GTBS.
