Detailed overview of Romany Caravan, West Wales
Romany Caravan is a unique and charming accommodation in a lovely rural location. Just a few minutes drive from the glorious sandy beaches of Llangrannog and Penbryn, it sits on a quiet road in a small hamlet a five minute walk from Rhydlewis village (where you can find a shop, salmon smokery and more).
Managed by award-winning agency Under the Thatch, Romany Caravan is the ideal getaway for a couple looking for an original break in a stunning riverside setting. It is one of their most popular lets, so you're advised to book early.
In the caravan, the double bed is made up for your arrival (proper hand-made sprung mattress but note the bed is 6" narrower than a standard double, and not ideal for people over 6'2" tall!). There are extra blankets, hot water bottle, a starter basket of fuel for the stove, traditional pot-belly stove, and cupboards. There are electric heater and lights inside and out, as well as a plug socket. Electric blanket available in winter, though rarely required as the stove is so efficient! Why not bring a laptop to enjoy DVD's in bed? The steps up to the cabin have LED lighting if required at night.
The cabin is split into three areas (kitchen, shower-room, covered veranda). There is a full-sized fridge, proper flushing toilet, electric shower, combination microwave/electric oven, kettle, toaster etc, traditional Belfast sink, CD player radio . Electric heaters, hot-water on demand etc. There is a traditional cast-iron pot-belly stove on the verandah.
Down by the river's edge is a picnic bench and traditional campfire for you to enjoy. Watch the brown trout swim by and cook a rustic meal - Romany recipe book supplied!
"Although the caravan scores high on novelty points, it's the setting that's the real winner. Tucked away in the corner of a wild-flower meadow next to the river where brown trout and otter are protected as part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest, it's secluded and ridiculously picturesque."
