A perfect vintage Bow Top Romany caravan, with accompanying cabin. The caravan sleeps a couple in a pull-out bed, and the next-door cabin has all facilities – bathroom with huge shower, little roll-top vintage bath, loo and hand basin; and living-room with kitchen, eating and sitting area, plus a fantastic little wood burner. Both caravan and cabin have extra heating, too.
Both are warm and snug, even on the coldest of winter nights, and it is just as romantic to stay while the snowflakes fall as it is to sit on the verandah in the summer and light a little lamp while the bats flit around.
The farm is a few hundred yards away, where there are extra logs to replenish stocks, plus friendly owners who will advise you on where to go and eat out, where to walk in the area, or give you a jug of milk if you need it.
They will collect you from the pub if you feel the worse for wear, or lend you bikes for a greener way to investigate the beautiful countryside. A short stay in this peaceful, private place will set you up for months to come.
Why is this a greener holiday?
To truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: the nearest train station is Abergavenny. From there, it’s a 15 minute taxi ride to the accommodation. When available, the owners are happy to collect guests from the station with prior arrangement.
Onsite the owners have taken a number of green measures to reduce the environmental impact of their tourism business. Some of these initiatives include excellent insulation in both the caravan and cabin, a top-quality wood burner for heating and the water source is a borehole.
