Why we've chosen Pipistrelle, Powys, Wales
Pipistrelle is smart little bolt-hole for a couple (plus an infant and a well-behaved dog), set in beautiful countryside close to the Brecon Beacons. A great place for a short break of utter relaxation, or a romantic place to hide away, this beautifully provided-for cottage is that most elusive of things: green and comfortable.
You will find great entertainment technology, a kitchen suited to enthusiastic cooks, plenty of useful baby kit, a king-size bed, a top-notch bathroom with roll-top bath and dinner-plate rain shower, and a superb little wood burner – all packaged up in an original and funky style.
Outside, views are stunning and wildlife is in abundance, all to be enjoyed through plenty of good walking and other outdoor pursuits. The helpful owners provide binoculars and an echo-locator for listening to bats, some superb information on what to do in the area, and clear instructions on recycling etc.
Why is this a greener holiday?
To truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: the nearest train station is Builth Road. From there, it’s a 15 minute taxi ride. Alternatively the owners are happy to collect guests from the station when available.
Onsite the owners have taken a number of green measures to reduce the environmental impact of their tourism business and contribute positively to their surroundings. Some of these initiatives include wood burning stove s, borehole water source and full insulation.
