How does The Peren minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?
To minimise its draw on energy, the Peren is fully insulated and has a ground heat source pump, all appliances are A rated and low energy light bulbs are used. They provide separated recycling facilities for plastic, paper and card, tin and food/green matter. To further minimise landfill waste, they top up toiletries and cleaning products from large dispensers. Only eco friendly cleaning products are used. Water consumption is metered and monitored. The welcome pack includes as locally sourced products and flowers from the garden. To contribute to community development, the owners set up a local farmers market and started the local Transition Town initiative.
