Venture down a small country lane and over an ancient stone bridge to find Penyrallt Fach Cottage on a beautiful & secluded organic dairy farm in the heart of the lovely Teifi Valley of West Wales.
The cottage has great character, with fine wood-lined ceilings, exposed beams and wood floors. Much of the furniture, including the beds & kitchen fittings, has been made by the owners from timber harvested from the sustainably managed woodlands on the farm. The decoration throughout has been done with the use of eco-friendly organic paints in a palette of warm colours.
The fully equipped, open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room has a large farmhouse table with seating for 4 and a comfortable sofa & easy chairs in which to relax in front of the very efficient wood-burning stove. There is an extensive library of books, dvds & board games and a DAB radio with iPod dock , TV & DVD player.
On arrival guests will find a small complimentary welcome basket of organic items, a fresh home-baked cake & flowers from the garden, on the table.
The two bedrooms, a double & a twin, are simply & attractively furnished with beds made by the owners.
The main bedroom has a double bed with king-size goose-down duvet & locally made traditional Welsh wool counterpane. The twin room has beds, with organic wool duvets, have been built in a style echoing the old-fashioned Welsh cupboard beds which give the room a quaint, quirky feel loved by children of all ages.
The beds are all supplied with gorgeous locally woven Welsh wool blankets.
The bathroom is simple & functional with bath with hand-held shower, wash-basin, lavatory, washing machine & heated towel-rail. Towels are supplied.
The water supply for the farm & cottage comes from pure natural springs that rise on the farm.
All fuel, electricity, bed-linen & towels are included in the price.
The farm is a member of the Soil Association Open Farm Network and visitors are welcome to request a full guided tour of the farm, free of charge, giving them the opportunity to see a real working farm.
One well behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement at a charge of £10.
Short Breaks are available all year round except during July, August, Christmas, New Year, Easter & Half Term holidays. (Minimum 2 nights)

How does Penyrallt Fach Cottage minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?
Having been fully insulated, Penyrallt Fach cottage sources all of its heating from an exreemely energy efficient wood-burning stove, the fuel for which comes from the sustainably managed woodlands on the farm. The cottage itself has been decorated with eco-friendly paints, while most of the furniture was made by the owners using timber grown on the farm. Most of the furnishings were also woven and handmade in Wales. All of the cottage's water is sourced from the pure natural springs that rise on the farm. Also, environmentally friendly cleaning products are used throughout and are made available to guests.
Recycling bins are available for waste, and the owners provide directions to the nearest bottle and paper banks. In terms of food, the farm offers organic rare-breed Traditional Hereford beef, Welsh lamb & eggs from the flock of free-range hens, as well as a small selection of organic vegetables. Penrallt's central location means it is perfect for visiting many of the region's best natural areas, from the coastline of Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains to the Pembrokeshire National Park.

Directions from station:
From Carmarthen take the A484 north for about 16 miles. In the village of Rhos turn right onto the A486 for about 1/2 mile. Turn right at the cross-roads at the No Through Road sign and follow the lane for 1/2 mile to the farm at the end of the track.
A local bus (460) stops about 1 mile from the farm. We are happy to meet guests at the bustop.
