Why we've chosen Pen y Fedw:
Pen y Fedw, a really beautiful and luxurious cottage in the depths of lovely Monmouthshire countryside, has recently been designed to accommodate a couple, plus a baby, and up to 2 dogs. It is bright, light, spacious, clean-lined - a refreshingly contemporary and stylish place to stay, with a good measure of European chic (one of the owners hails from Barcelona). It is also an eco-friendly cottage, designed with the environment in mind, and using only ethically-sourced, green products (the other owner is a leading campaigner on environmental issues).
Downstairs is one open-plan oak-floored space: a snug sitting-area with a wood burner, a dining area, and a very snappy kitchen. There is also a downstairs shower room with loo and hand basin, with a small lobby for hanging coats. In the winter, the wood burner and radiators keep this room lovely and warm; in the summer, a concertina door opens out onto a little sheltered sun-trap of a garden with a patio, a flower bed, pots, BBQ and garden furniture.
Upstairs is the big bedroom with a roll-top bath and wonderful views from every window – trees to one side and rolling farmland to the other. You can lie in bed or bath and soak up this beautiful panorama. The super-king-size bed can be turned into twin beds, if preferred.
