A bit more about Feather Down Farm's Park Farm
Recently featured in Red magazine, Park Farm is a 370-acre mixed arable and sheep farm nestling on the edge of the picturesque village of Littleworth. Spectacular views stretch out from the foot of your tent towards the Upper Thames Valley to the Cotswolds. Our family has farmed here for four generations and now tend to 250 acres of arable crops. But we’re sure you’ll find our 400 ewes more interesting, especially at lambing time from early April to early May. If you’re lucky you might witness the event first hand from your tent, and until mid-June you’ll be welcome to help Shaena with her bottle-feeding rounds.
You’ll also love getting to know our naughty pygmy goats, Eric and Ernie. There is great walking from the farm, with the historic market town of Faringdon and the Thames at Radcot both within an easy half-day jaunt. Just 20 minutes’ drive downstream, the Thames meets the Isis overlooked by the dreaming spires of Oxford – haven for history buffs and keen shoppers alike. The river’s graceful willows and lush pastures are a far cry from the busy river banks in London, which is just an hour and a half’s drive away.

Greentraveller's Insight: The Park Farm Experience
Park Farm's tents are located at the top of a grassy meadow, meaning plenty of space for the kids to run around before discovering the footpath that leads down to the river, not to mention the beautiful orchard. The tents themselves are large enough for six people, and come complete with a wood burning stove for all your cooking and heating, as well as a cozy living area and some wonderfully comfortable beds. There's also hot showers on site.
Highlights at Park Farm:
- Spring lambing and June bottle feeding
- Acres of woodland

Why is this a greener holiday?
To truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: the nearest train station is Oxford, and from there the farm is only a short taxi ride away, see: www.traintaxi.co.uk. Onsite the accommodation is very low impact, as the tents are effectively off-grid. There is no electricity and lighting is by candle. Heating and cooking is done on a wood-burning stove. The hot tubs are also wood burning. Much of the produce in the honesty shops is local sourced, either from the farm or other nearby suppliers. To avoid use of additional transport for the duration of their holiday, there is a wide range of low impact family activities on-site and in the surrounding area, including walking, hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities of badgers, foxes, buzzards, red kites and even the lesser spotted woodpecker.
