Why is this a greener holiday?

To truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: the train station is Uttoxter. From there, take bus 32a to the top of the lane (47 minute journey). The owners are happy to meet guests at the bus stop for the 10 minute walk to the accommodation. Onsite they’ve have taken a number of green measures to reduce the environmental impact of their tourism business and contribute positively to their surroundings.

  • Hosts do not have a car. They are Peak District Environmental Quality Mark holders

  • 10% discount if you travel there & back by foot, bike, train or bus. Hosts provide comprehensive bus timetables

  • Hosts do not shop at supermarkets, they support the local economy. They have an organic veg box & buy ethically

  • Has a refuse-reuse-reduce-recycle policy. Chickens & dogs take care of food waste

  • Low energy light bulbs, modern condensing boiler in the Annexe, 'A' rated washing machine & line dry washing

  • Carbon footprint is extremely low, all energy usage is monitored by Peak District , and hosts do not use household gadgets

Directions from station:
Direct connections (bus 32a) at the railway station to the top of lane. Hosts will walk and meet any bus that they know guests are on. 10 minute downhill walk from local bus stop. Journey time 47 minutes. Buses are timed to depart after train arrives in both directions.
