How does Castle Pill Farm minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?
To reduce its draw on natural resources, the Old Dairy was recently refurbished to include internal wall and enhanced roof insulation, in-floor heating from an air source heat pump, a wind turbine for accommodation as well as photovoltaic panels on the farm. All water is metered, and water saving devices have been installed in the toilet cisterns. All waste is separated for recycling. To minimize plastic waste, shampoo, conditioner and shower gels are purchased in bulk and refillable dispensers are used. The breakfast is prepared from locally sourced ingredients. Guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport to minimise their impact on the Farm as well as the breathtaking Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park and its biodiversity.
