How does In Motion minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?
This beautiful B&B has been renovated using ecological materials and reclaimed furniture, using only green electricity from sustainable sources, while the roofs and walls have been fully insulated (roofs with journal paper and walls with cork) to keep the accommodation warm throughout the year, and many of the appliances are A-rated. There's also plenty of recycling and composting opportunities for guests, with bulk dispensers for soaps, toiletries, washing powder and some foods. In terms of water consumption, the cisterns have been fitted with water savers, with flow restrictors in the shower heads.
Guests are provided with plenty of tips on how to keep their environmental impact down, and rainwater is harvested for the toiltes, washing machine and garden. Guests will be able to find organic vegetables an fruit in the B&B's garden, as well as eggs from the resident chickens. The rest of the food involved in creating the organic breakfasts and meals is sourced from organic shops and farmers in the area. In order to have as little impact as possible on the surrounding area, the expansive garden and land is a mixture of organic, bio-dynamic and permaculture.
