How does Mino Valley Retreats minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?
To minimise their draw on natural resources, the retreat is electricity-free and the showers are solar. The wood burned for heating is a sustainable source. The stream that runs through the retreat’s property is their primary water source. For the garden and washing, rainwater is also collected. The owners are always looking for new ways to be more environmentally friendly, and thus far they use pot in pot fridges, have dry compost toilets and no chemicals or pollutants are used throughout the retreat. Natural handmade toiletries such as soap, shampoo are offered to guests. All food waste is composed and used in the garden. Guests are offered seasonal organic fruit and vegetables from the garden.
Mino Valley Retreats is located in Galica, an area with an incredibly diverse range of wildlife, ecosystems, flora and fauna, which the owners are passionate about minimising its impact on. They happily offer interested guests many opportunities and activities to learn more about sustainable living and nature.
