Why is this a greener holiday?
First, to truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: The nearest train station is Fishguard. From there, there is a Strumble Shuttle (404) which stops nearby (Google 'Strumble shuttle' for timetables); however the only trains to Fishguard are twice a day to the ferry terminal (Fishguard Harbour) arriving at 13.15 and, less helpful, 01.26! Luckily, there are plenty of trains to Haverfordwest and buses from there to Fishguard.
Onsite the owners have implemented a number of green initiatives including restoring a derelict building for tourism purposes, rather than constructing a new one. All walls are lime, making them breathable. Natural paints have been used throughout, and the building is fully insulated with Welsh sheep’s wool. They have installed ground source central heating and a reed-bed sewage system. Rain-water is collected and used in toilets.
