Our 18th Century Stables have been lovingly restored using environmentally-friendly materials and traditional methods creating two beautiful self-catering accommodation units in the heart of rural Lincolnshire. Layers of natural wood-fibre and hemp insulation line the walls and ceilings whilst below the floor re-cycled glass and limecrete ensures underfloor warmth. A wood pellet boiler working in combination with solar panels supplies all the heating and hot water and there are wood-burning stoves in both accommodations.

The rooms are warm, welcoming and relaxing, with exposed beams and lime-washed walls. The wooden floors, doors and windows have all been treated with environmentally-friendly orange-scented wood stains or paints and the floors are covered in braided wool rugs and recycled cotton mats. Fabrics are soft and natural, colours are warm and earthy and luxury organic wool mattresses are covered in quality bedding and cotton quilts.

Little extras include organic toiletries, fresh flowers, a luxury hamper full of organic and local specialities, home-grown vegetables, a box of organic chocolates, freshly baked bread made from flour ground at a local windmill, wine from our own apples and a fridge full of locally sourced goodies such as Lincolnshire sausages, cheeses, butter and eggs. Each accommodation has a small private garden with wooden table and chairs, earthen bread oven, bird-feeding table and basket swing making them lovely gardens ‘rooms’ for relaxing in. One of the accommodations has been carefully adapted to ensure it is suitable for those with limited mobility.

We are situated in the village of Martin close to the Wolds, Coast and Fens in an area renowned for good walks, cycling, bird watching and the big outdoors. There are 2 pubs serving food within walking distance and the nearest train station is only 4 miles away. The Edwardian town of Woodhall Spa and the historic city of Lincoln with its cathedral and castle are both only a short distance away.

A changing programme of craft, cookery and gardening courses runs throughout the year.

Our visitors say it all "…this place has a wonderful energy about it..."
