Sat right beside the river with a gorgeous private stretch for fishing and even some nice fly and spinning pools there to borrow, this is the ideal place to fish away to your heart's content.  Hiding behind the woods, it will feel as through you are the only people for miles. It's fair to say the owners, the Holden-Hindleys, have gone all out to make this the complete wooden lodge experience. The lodge itself is meticulously constructed using traditional methods from timber cut from the estate. There is luxury at this wild frontier too. The interior is a bright open space, with comfy furniture arranged to make use of the long burner and the kitchen is fully fitted with modern appliances for cooking up what you've caught. Enjoy eating out on the terrace whatever the weather.
All these special touches are available at The Lodge by arrangement:

Why is this a greener holiday?

Firstly, to truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: while the nearest train station is Penrith, with direct trains to London (only 2hr 50min) and pickups can be arranged from the station to the Lodge. Additionally, this is a perfect opportunity to appreciate nature, and the Lodge itself blends into its surroundings so well, unsurprisingly since it was constructed with timber from the Edenhall estate itself. It is fully insulated and a wood-burner is used to heat the lodge with the same local material, which keeps the environmental impact to a minimum. As well as being next to the Lake District, the estate itself is home to deer as well as plenty of other wildlife and salmon and brown trout can be found in the rivers and pools all around.

Top Eco Features at the Lodge

  • Very efficient insulation

  • Construction materials taken from the estate

  • Fuel for log burner sourced from the estate

  • Source your own very local food from the river or out with the help of the game keeper

  • Pick up available from train station
