Why we've chosen Glan LLyn

Glan Llyn is situated in the Clwydian Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As the name suggests, this range of heather-clad hills and limestone cliffs is certainly outstanding… and incomparably beautiful. Excellent walking, cycling and off road horse riding are available on our doorstep, please ask for details of favourite trails.

Fishing, paragliding and several 18-hole golf courses are all within a few miles. Bring your horse, canoe or cycle with you! There are stables and grazing for your horse, and secure drying and storage facilities for all equipment and tack.If you are planning on walking Offa’s Dyke or riding on a long distance trail transfer of luggage from your last accommodation and onto the next is offered.

There are rooms available in the Guest House, a static caravan for four, a self-catering cottage or town apartments available.  Boy riding llama at Glan Llyn, photo: Richard HaggertyBoy riding llama at Glan Llyn, photo: Richard Haggerty

Brief description of your accommodation:
We have a 3 double bedroom boutique guest house, all rooms are en-suite and individually decorated to the highest standard. We also have a two double bedroom self catering cottage in the property and a caravan. The caravan is the only accommodation where pets are allowed

Eco credentials:

How do you reduce your draw on energy:
The whole house is heavily insulted and has underfloor heating. We have solar panels for electricity and hot water, a giant wood burner in garage heats the most of the hot water in the winter with the contribution of the wood burner in the sitting room. The cottage has also a wood burner for heating as well as underfloor heating.

How you minimise the amount of waste you send to landfill:
QW have a compost heap for food and other organic waste. Any paper or wood waste is used in the wood burner to create heat. The metal glass and plastic is recycled

How you reduce your consumption of water:
We collect rain water for water-trough in the stables, and we have water saving buttons in toilet cisterns. We have eco friendly white goods and whenever possible eco friendly cleaning products

How much of the food your serve is sourced locally (where possible):
we do not serve food but we provide a welcome basket in the rooms and whenever possible we use locally sourced products. Guests of the guest house can share our kitchen and cook their own meals. Guest are welcome to use herbs and fresh ingredients from our vegetable garden.

Do you actively encourage guests to arrive on foot, by bike and by public transport?:
We live in a rural area and public transport is not very frequent or user friendly. But if people wish to arrive by public transport or bike we offer information and support.

Additional information:
We are an area which is ideal for outdoor enthusiast. Long distance paths make Glan Llyn an ideal stop for those who are walking the Offas' Dyke, the Clyidian Way or wish to extend the Pilgrim Way to LLangollen.

We offer secure heated storage for bicycles and wet equipment and have bike washing facility for those who are on a bike tour . We participate on the Horse Welcome scheme of the British Horse Society for those who are touring on horse back. So hospitality is available for both human and horses.
