Tucked into the grounds and sustainably renovated with modern comforts, there is an original private Cortijo with 4 en-suite bedrooms and infinity pool and tucked into the grounds are traditionally-styled 1, 2 and 3 bedroom Casitas with high wooden ceilings, open-plan living areas and shared pool - all with private shaded patios and gardens. The estate is suitable for both disabled and wheelchair users.
A few minutes away are miles of glorious beaches, great restaurants, shops and markets as well as a wide range of activities from horse riding and surfing to whale watching. There is a wealth of choice for nature lovers too - from whale and dolphin watching to safaris exploring the wonderful National Parks such Donana and Los Alcornocales, or simply birdwatching and enjoying the local flora and fauna walks. Also within easy reach for a day trip are many of the historical and cultural gems of Jerez, Seville, Ronda and even Morocco. Our wonderful chef can provide delicous home-cooked meals and tapas baskets as well as a shopping service on request - for everything from a first night supper to a family occasion. Tailor made cookery courses & yoga weeks too!
How does Finca El Sueño minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?
The houses have all been renovated or re-built, everything from original buildings recycled. Alongside retrofitting, the owners have implemented a wide range of green initiatives to reduce their draw on natural resources. Hot water is heated with solar panels; all electricity is generated from local wind turbines less than 5km away; low-usage eco-heat panels have been installed in all the Casitas, and wood burning stoves use wood purchased from sustainable sources. Individual thermostats in all rooms allow for effective temperature control and monitoring. Everything possible is recycled and the most eco-friendly cleaning products are used. Rain drains into ground to feed the wells and water system, the sole water suppliers for the properties, swimming pools and gardens. Any excess goes down slope into the dredged lake, which sustains a whole host of wildlife during hotter summer months.
As a self-catering accommodation, the hosts direct guests to local shops and markets for local products such as goat cheeses in oil and honey. The services of a wonderful local chef are available for several menus from tapas to al fresco dining made from as much local, fresh/seasonal and organic ingredients as possible. The entire estate is completely organic and ecological, with a very proactive permaculture scheme in place for the orchards, vegetable and herb gardens – supported by a large bees and butterflies ornamental herb garden in the centre. A range of initiatives have been implemented to protect and improve the local biodiversity and conservation of the local area - half of the estate has been completely turned over to a new wet woodland project and the accommodation sits inside a protected National Park.
