There is a clear commitment to reducing the impact of the business on the environment and as well as monitoring energy use, using products which do not harm the environment and encouraging recycling, a number of other measure include providing a natural habitat which encourages wildlife, offering a no smoking environment and promoting environmental initiatives to guests. The house itself is well insulated, with low energy lightbulbs throughout and A-rated appliances. Some toilets are dual flush, while others have water savers in the cisterns. All cleaning products and toiletries are environmentally friendly and rainwater is collected for use in the garden. There's also a towel policy to minimise washing.

Guests are encouraged fo recycle, with info on how to dispose of paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminium and glass. All of the meat available on the breakfast menu has been purchased from a local butcher in Inverness, with fruit, veg and dairy products also sold locally wherever possible. Fish and eggs come from a local fishmonger. There's a free pick up and drop off service to Inverness, plus bus information and tips on where to hire bikes, one of which delivers directly to Evergreen. Guided walks can also help guests understand more about the local environment.
