The Dovecote Barns York - the perfect eco luxury getaway. This multi award winning accommodation offers year round weekly, weekend and mid-week luxury holiday breaks in converted 18th century barns.
A country retreat adjacent open countryside and the river Ouse - ideal for exploring the peaceful countryside, relaxing indoors by the log stove, heading into the city for some retail therapy or delving into York's rich history. A direct bus route operates to York city centre and takes approx a half hour.
There are three barns (sleeping 2, 4 and 6 persons), which can be booked individually or as a group and are an ideal venue for couples, friends, families, or any group to get together. Group dining for 12 is facilitated in the largest barn, The Hay Barn.
This five-star Gold Award accommodation was voted "Best Self-Catering Accommodation in York" for 2010 and is also an environmental scheme and has been awarded GTBS Gold Status. The Dovecote Barns are finalists in the Yorkshire wide tourism awards 2010 for both Sustainable Tourism and Self-Catering Accommodation categories.
There are 6 en-suite luxury bedrooms with individually designed wet rooms or bath/shower rooms. Biomass and solar panels ensure a constant supply of piping hot water to guest bathrooms and heated towel rails year round as well as the under floor heating and eco laundry. With all en-suite bedrooms, this venue is particularly suitable for any group that wish to get ready for an event such as a wedding, horse races, girls getaways, celebrations, etc. The smallest barn (sleeping 2) is wheelchair accessible, fully ramped and has a large roll in level shower wet room.
The barns are located in the countryside, easily accessible to York city centre by bus, car and "Park and Ride" service from the nearby designer outlet. Local pubs and restaurants serving traditional English fayre, Indian, Italian and Thai cuisine. We will accept a supermarket home delivery prior to your arrival if you wish, therefore enabling you to relax straight away into your break.
There is a welcome basket on arrival as well as complimentary toiletries and sundry items. The price is all inclusive including an endless supply of logs for the log burning stoves. Internet access is available in each barn. An outdoor games area with tabletennis table and outdoor games on offer.

Directions from station:
Direct bus route runs hourly from Selby train station/bus station Arriva no. 42 bus or taxi rank at station will take 10-15 mins.
If York station, either taxi 20-25 mins or walk across town to Piccadilly and catch Arriva no. 42 bus.
Ask bus driver to let you off at the 'Cawood' end of Kelfield village. The barns are located at Manor Farm on the edge of the village where the riverbank starts. Approx 60 meters from the bus stop.
