Why we've chosen Casal dei Fichi

Casal dei Fichi is waiting to offer you a luxurious holiday in one of six spacious apartments designed from a carefully renovated country farmhouse complete with wooden beams and terracotta floors. Each apartment has it’s own private garden with table and chairs for dining al fresco. We believe good food is an important part of life and so we have equipped all the kitchens with granite worktops and all the appliances you are used to at home.

You will find a large veggie patch, herb garden, orchard and eggs readily available from our free range chickens. Take freely from the garden, prepare a delicious meal and enjoy it outside with a spectacular view. We have installed solar panels plus we collect our rainwater to irrigate the gardens and of course we compost and recycle as much as possible. Take a look at our website to see all the initiatives we have taken, big and small to minimise our impact on the environment In the grounds you will find a15m solar heated pool boarded by a large decked area equipped with sun loungers and shades, here you can sip a cocktail, relax in the sun or simply soak up the inspirational views of hilltop towns, rolling countryside and the stunning Sibillini mountains.

The original brick bread oven is ideal for our weekly summer complimentary pizza evenings - we make the dough, bring the ingredients and the wine and you get a chance to make your own pizza and share it with your friends or family. If you prefer there are several barbecue areas - why be inside when it’s so warm? The apartments have double, twin or Emperor (2.5m wide) beds and there are double sofa beds in several. You will find all the luxuries to make your stay complete including a TV, DVD player, music system with ipod lead and a large book, games and DVD collection if case you want a night in.

Casal dei Fichi is a short walk from the village of Francavilla which has a selection of shops, bars and a restaurant. The area is perfect for walking or cycling and we will be happy to guide you on all the best spots to visit including some superb medieval towns of Macerata and Fermo. The blue flag beaches of the Adriatic coast and the awesome Sibillini mountains (for skiing, climbing, walking and cycling) are both within 30 minutes. The thick walls and double glazing again mean that the house is well insulated. Nearly all the hot water comes from solar panels, which also heat the swimming pool making it a few degrees warmer in the spring and autumn. All appliances are A-rated or better. Movement sensors and timers control external lighting. Water is draw from a well and supplemented by the collection of rainwater in a huge underwater tank, which is used to irrigate the gardens, vegetable plot and the 120+ trees planted.

Water restrictors have been installed on taps. The septic tanks are the self decomposing type which means that waste is slowly returned to the environment in a controlled manner, a valuable source of nutrition for the land. All food waste is composted. Recycling bins are provided to separate glass, tin, plastic and paper. Eco friendly products are used throughout and bulk purchases are made to minimise packaging. Local food from the farm includes fresh vegetables and herbs from the vegetable plot, oil from the olive trees pressed locally and free range chickens. Guests are encouraged to arrive by train and have free use of bikes to explore the local area.
