Why we've chosen Baddegai Holiday Cottage:

Baddegai is set in 3 acres of grounds and surrounded by fields and National Trust land. Though set in a secluded position in the foothills of Pen-y-fan, it is less than a mile from the A470, 4 miles from Brecon and 30 miles from Cardiff and the M4.

Recently completely renovated the accommodation now provides 4 en-suite letting rooms that can all be doubles or twins – 3 are super king size, one a double. There is a fully fitted kitchen and utility room which is a great place for drying off wet clothes and dogs!   The dining room, which seats 12, and the sitting room have wood burning stoves for which all logs are provided. There are original beamed ceilings, oak and slate floors, oak doors and paneling and a wealth of character. There is also wifi throughout the property and all bed linen and towels are provided. Dogs and children are welcome at Baddegai.

The garden is secure with a south-facing patio, a real sun trap, and there are 2 paddocks perfect for exercising dogs. There is a bbq for guests use and croquet set. A stream runs along the edge of the property which is fenced off – making it safe for young children and a great place for older ones to play.

There are a multitude of walks straight from the door – you can walk up the old Drovers road to the Storey Arms and then on to the Beacons. It is also a great base for mountain bikers and we have a shed where you can lock your bikes up and a tap for washing them off. If you prefer a more leisurely walk or cycle the tow path along the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal is lovely and flat and there are plenty of pubs along the way supplying welcome refreshments.

At Baddegai we are committed to providing a good quality service whilst minimising the environmental impact of our activities. You will stay at a house designed for sustainable tourism, featuring central heating supplied by an air source heat pump. We used local materials during the renovation of the property, all windows are double glazed and the property is fully insulated with Kingspan. At Baddegai we encourage guests to consider their environmental impact and where possible to use the separate bins provided for glass & plastic bottles, cans and paper, use recycled paper products, support the local food producers and restaurants in the area and use environmentally friendly washing and cleaning products that are provided – which we also use in our own cleaning routine. Low energy light bulbs are used where possible and almost all our appliances are A rated . All gardening is pesticide free and we aim to encourage beneficial insects and wildlife. We encourage our guests to support local producers, pubs, restaurants and cafes and we promote local tourist attractions and events.

There are plenty of things to do in the area such as horse riding, canoeing, fishing, kayaking, star gazing and golf. Other activities include hiring a boat on the canal, taking a trip on the Brecon Mountain Railway, going to Big Pit, Penderyn Whisky Distillery, the Red Kite Feeding Station or visiting one of the local towns such as Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell or Abergavenny. There are plenty of family friendly attractions such as Dan-yr-Ogof Caves, the Brecon Play Barn, Llangorse Multi Activity Centre, Cantref Adventure Farm or Garwnant Visitors Centre.
