Why we've chosen Écovallée Yurt Camp, Dordogne, Aquitaine, France

Ecovallée is a quiet, family friendly yurt campsite 400m from the medieval market town of Lalinde. Facilities include two 18-foot coppiced chestnut yurts sleeping up to four, a 12-foot toy filled Play Yurt, solar shower, woodland play area, and safari-style kitchen with gas BBQ and four-hob gas oven. New in 2013 is a 12-foot coppiced ash yurt with its own kitchen and eating area - ideal for couples or new parents. The guest yurts overlook a 12.5-acre smallholding where chickens and geese range free in the orchard with the rabbits, and a working horse doesn't work very hard. The large allotment produces a wealth of vegetables guests can sample as available. Various baby and toddler accessories (all-terrain buggy, baby bath, high chair, toys, and books in English and French) are available to save on packing.

Reviewed by Richard Hammond: "If you’re thinking of buying a yurt or living off the land, then this is an excellent place to pick up a few tips. But equally, if you’re looking for a quiet bolthole in the Dordogne, particularly if you have young children, this is ideal. Inspirational."  Read Richard's full Review of Ecovallée Yurt Camp
